Silhouette Portraits

Silhouette Portraits of your family, friends, or pets…

Original artworks, acrylic and mixed media on watercolor paper.  Size 18” x 24”.

How it works:

Select your own photo with interesting positive and negative space shapes.

I LOVE negative space!  See description below.

Its best to choose images where the subject is in profile, three-quarter view, or holding out their limbs from their bodies. See examples.

I will create a silhouette from your photo.  Send me the following:

(1) Email the photo of the subject(s).  Include all your contact info.

(2) Select 2-3 colors to include in the color palette.  Or leave it up to me. Or do you want it Black and White?  The rest is up to me.

(3) Do you want words?  Sometimes it’s nice to include words in the background of the artwork.  It could be your kids’ names, or nicknames, or something meaningful to you.  Send me those words, a photo by email, or text message me the photo.  Preferably in your kid’s handwriting.

(4) Make your payment through PayPal; or check, if you ‘re local.

(5) Once I receive everything (#1 – #4), I will confirm a delivery date. Usually, 2-4 weeks.

(6) Your custom artwork will come with a personal note from me, confirming its authenticity.

I’m currently taking orders for Christmas!

Introductory price USD$350. for the first 10 orders!  Price goes up to USD$450. after the first 10 customers.

Shipping within USA?

USD$20. Finished artwork will be shipped to you in a tube. Please add this on to your order, unless you plan to pick up the artwork from me.

Framing?

Purchase a standard cardboard mat with an opening for an 18” x 24” artwork.  Purchase a standard frame to fit the size of the matted artwork. There are many tutorials on line.  Or take directly to your professional framer.

What is Negative space?

Negative space, in art, is the space around and between the subject(s) of an image. Negative space may be most evident when the space around a subject, and not the subject itself, forms an interesting or artistically relevant shape, and such space is occasionally used to artistic effect as the “real” subject of an image. The use of negative space is a key element of artistic composition.
